Libraries are frequently overlooked in discussions about open education and OER, as is Africa more generally. Librarians cannot play an active role if they do not fully understand the significance of open licensing to their work. This resource titled "The UNESCO OER Recommendation and Open Knowledge: An Overview for African Librarians" developed by AfLIA, in collaboration with Neil Butcher and Associates tries to explain the pertinence of open licensing, the OER Recommendation and provides practical applications of the Recommendation within the context of African libraries.
