Webinar on Open Data

Data holds the inherent potential to transform the world, more especially open data. The days of restrictive data that existed for internal use by Governments and organizations are fast eroding giving way to vast ranges of open data that are freely accessible. As Governments and organizations shift further and further towards opening their data, it presents librarians with amazing insights which can be converted into actions for the greater community. But how can African Libraries and Librarians access, use and even collaborate/contribute to Open Data? What are the new roles of African Libraries in the era of technology and Open Data? How can African Libraries be positioned as platforms for its users to access Open Data? What are the key privacy and licensing issues related to the use of Open Data?
