Sharjah Library Conference
The Sharjah Library Conference is a collaboration between the Sharjah International Book Fair and the American Library Association, which develops the professional program. The Conference is held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in conjunction with the Sharjah International Book Fair, the 4th largest book fair in the world and collection development librarians are offered the Sharjah Purchase Program.
Your registration includes:

Optional preconference workshops
Tuesday, November 6:
- The ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education – The ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education – with its emphasis on self-reflective and lifelong learning and on conceptual understandings about information, research, and scholarship and encouraging – has prompted many librarians to consider their teaching practices from fresh angles, as they explore their evolving instructional roles within and beyond the library classroom. Throughout this workshop participants will explore concepts and pedagogical approaches outlined in the Framework and their significance to their own instructional work.
- School Librarians Making Meaningful Change Around the World – The workshop will investigate how social media can empower individual educators to take charge of their own professional development and grow their professional learning network. Participants will engage in small group conversations on successful programs happening within all of our schools.
Sharjah Purchase Program
If you purchase $20,000 USD worth of books at the Book Fair you will receive reimbursement for round-trip economy airfare and 3 nights of hotel. If you purchase $10,000 worth of books and other materials you will receive reimbursement for 3 nights of hotel. Airfare and hotel reimbursement provided after proof of purchase receipts/invoices. Reimbursement up to 2000 AED for hotel and 5000 AED for airfare.
Sharjah Library Conference participation is required.
