Open data management is crucial for African librarians as it empowers them to enhance research transparency, accessibility, and collaboration across the continent. AfLIA, in partnership with Figshare and Africa PID Alliance, is offering a four-week online course titled “Open Data Management Foundational Course for African Librarians”. This course is entirely free and aims to strengthen the research data management capacity of librarians in Africa.

The virtual course will start on Monday, October 7 2024 and includes weekly live webinars each Wednesday and online interactions via AfLIA’s online learning platform (Moodle). An optional (but highly recommended) 1 hour live onboarding webinar will take place on Thursday, October 3.

Please note that AfLIA is not obligated to award certificates to participants who fail to actively engage in the course.
The course is designed for academic and research librarians, as well as library educators in Africa. Other library and information professionals, as well as students interested in gaining knowledge in open research data management, are also welcome to register.
