Rania Shaarawy
Head of International Communication at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), Egypt.

She received her master degree in library and information science from ENSSIB, France. She studied French language and literature at Alexandria University in Egypt. Member in the AIFBD Governing Board (International Francophone Librarians Association). She is also a member of the IFLA RISS (Reference and Information Services Section). She is a member of the AFLIA Governing Board since 2017, represent the North Africa countries and promote the AFLIA within this region. She is working on an action plan for the cooperation between the AFLIA and the Bibliotheca after signing an MOU with the AFLIA in 2017. She is leading the BAIFA service (BA Information For Africa) that aims to develop new online services to reach out to research and library community in the world and in Africa especially: ILL service through Africa, online university diploma in LIS in French, Mobile digital library for poor and refugees.
She is responsible of building networks locally, regionally and internationally (especially in Africa and within the Francophone community) in order to promote the BA services, building new partnerships and library exchanges, and to manage international library activities and she is leading also the Francophone projects at the BA
