Postponement of AfLAc Cohort 3

OCTOBER 9, 2020

We are constrained to put plans towards the admission and beginning of training for Cohort 3 of the AfLIA Leadership Academy on hold until further notice. This is a fallout from the COVID-19 crisis which has introduced new realities and made every organisation to re-strategize on how to adjust to new scenarios and unplanned disruptions.

A major strand of the AfLIA Leadership Academy is Community Projects which requires the participants to collaborate with organisations and groups to provide solutions to development challenges through access to information within their user communities. The protocols of engagement in the new normal brought on by the pandemic makes this problematic. We were hoping that the situation would have improved by October 2020 but it looks like we are not out of the woods yet.

The AfLIA Leadership Academy will resume when participants can reasonably interact physically with their user communities and carry out their projects. Those who have already applied will be given the first option for admission before new applicants are considered when the Academy resumes.

We believe that you will bear with us as we wait for safe and effective ways to open for us to continue with this training.

AfLIA Secretariat.
