AfLIA recognized for its contribution to the growth and development in education

SEPTEMBER 16, 2020

The African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) was honoured with an Award at the 2020 Ghana Development Awards on 12th September 2020 for its contribution to growth and development in Education. The event was organized and hosted by The Business Executive Limited (TBE), publishers of the monthly magazine titled The Business Executive.

The event which is held every 4 years in Ghana aims to identify and openly recognize the efforts of Individuals, Public Institutions and Private Organisations/Enterprises that have contributed immensely to Ghana’s socio-economic development. It was also to identify and honour foreign institutions that have distinguished themselves as exemplary development partners.

According to TBE the “award scheme sets out to establish a selection of exemplary contributors to Ghana’s growth and development in their deserved places in history for posterity’s sake and also to serve as motivation for Ghanaians, foreign trade and investment partners and foreign development assistance partners, to step up their commitment and actual efforts towards accelerating Ghana’s growth and development”.

To mention but a few, all the forty two awardees exhibited good governance in their various field of endeavours. Below are a few of the selection criteria.

  • Commitment of the nominee to national and/or community development objectives;
  • Willingness to sacrifice commercial objectives for development objectives;
  • Actual impact of the nominee on national and/or communal development;
  • Expenditures made on development efforts and initiatives;
  • Length of time that nominee has been executing efforts aimed at enhancing development.

Fourteen (14) individuals from both the Public and Privations Institutions alongside twenty eight (28) Public, Private and Foreign Institutions received awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to growth and development in Ghana economy.
