On 26th August, 2019, African Library & Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Bureau of Library Information and Documentation Associations (Eblida) at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Athens, Greece. Mr Mandla Ntombela, President of AfLIA, and Mr Ton van Vlimmeren, President of EBLIDA, signed the document in the presence of the Director of EBLIDA, Mr Giuseppe Vitiello, AfLIA Vice President, Mr. Alim Garga and Dr Buhle Mbambo-Thata, Director, Resource Development AfLIA.
The MoU seeks to promote closer partnership and collaboration between the two organizations in advancement of knowledge and access to information to drive sustainable development and the implementation of UN 2030 Sustainable development Goals for the mutual benefit of its members and stakeholders.
