This webinar aims at introducing International Conference on Information Literacy – Africa (ICIL) – Africa 3rd edition to the library and information science sector in Africa, give an overview about the previous editions and talk about the different aspects of the 3rd edition that will take place in Egypt. We will highlight the sub-themes of the call for abstracts and the benefits of attending this edition. Within the framework of this webinar we will make a demonstration of the submission portal and the registration process.
Ce webinaire vise à présenter la troisième édition de la Conférence internationale sur la maîtrise de l’information – Afrique (ICIL) au secteur des bibliothèques et des sciences de l’information en Afrique, à donner un aperçu des éditions précédentes et à parler des différents aspects de la troisième édition qui aura lieu en Égypte. Nous soulignerons les sous-thèmes de l’appel à résumés et les avantages de participer à cette édition. Dans le cadre de ce webinaire, nous ferons une démonstration du portail de soumission et du processus d’inscription.

Maha Abbas is the Head of BAIFA (Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information for Africa). Ms. Maha graduated from Faculty of Arts, French language and literature department, Alexandria University and since her graduation she joined Bibliotheca Alexandrina where she held different jobs for more than 10 years. She started as a French translator and editor and then she joined the Francophone Library in 2012 where she started her career in the field of Information and Library Sciences. In 2017, she got promoted to her current position as Head of BAIFA. She received her MBA from Arab Academy for Science, technology and Maritime Transport, Major Project Management during her early career. She eagerly worked with the aim of enhancing research and empowering the role of information services to support development. Maha embarked to strengthen joint cooperation and build several partnerships that work for the benefit of the African researcher. Ms. Maha has also developed a large network of researchers, librarians and academics through its network with African Libraries and African Universities. She is also an active member in the African Library and Information Association and Institution (AFLIA), where she was elected as the North African representative to its Governing Council.
Upon registration, reminders will be sent to all registrants periodically. This webinar will be hosted on Zoom Conferencing Platform. Participants, who do not have Zoom on their mobile devices and or computers, need to download, install and create an account on Zoom ahead of time (CLICK TO DOWNLOAD). Webinar attendees are encouraged to join early, preferably 15 minutes before the start of the webinar, as one may need time launch the application. The speaker will use a webcam to connect with attendees. Audio and video for the session will be streamed over computer speakers. Attendees are therefore encouraged to connect with a headset or earpiece for maximum utility.
A list of resources and further information will made be available at the end of the webinar, to enable thorough engagement with the webinar content. All registrants will have access to the presentation slides. The webinar recording may be uploaded on AfLIA Youtube Channel soon after the webinar to facilitate continuous engagement with the webinar content by webinar attendees and non-attendees.
