Description
The African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) has been leading African librarians and information professionals to ask questions and explore how to fully open the knowledge stored in information resources in African libraries, archives and museums so that they will be more visible and easier to locate. This is critical as opening up knowledge helps to create more knowledge and pathways for solutions that lead to sustainable development.
Through grant support from the Wikimedia Foundation, AfLIA will develop an online course to train librarians and information professionals on “Promoting open knowledge practices in African Libraries through WikiData”.
AfLIA is seeking to employ an curriculum expert who will work remotely but closely with the Course Manager/Facilitator and the AfLIA team for two months to create a learning framework (curriculum, modules and learning materials} for the AfLIA/Wikidata course taking into cognisance the digital skills set, Internet facilities/penetration, African meanings, values and learning milieu in the continent.
