As we approach the end of 2024, we at the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA) reflect on the significant milestones achieved together in advancing libraries, promoting information access, and disseminating knowledge across the continent.
This year has been a remarkable one for the African Library Sector, and it is all thanks to your continual commitment to collaboration, advocacy, and professional development. From championing open access and digital inclusion to empowering communities through capacity-building initiatives, your dedication has been the cornerstone of our success in 2024.
We deeply cherish your contributions in various ways, viz:
- Your valued membership in AfLIA.
- Every moment spent participating in our activities.
- The rich interactions and feedback you have shared.
- The technical, financial, and strategic support you have provided.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited about the ambitious and impactful interventions AfLIA has planned, including the highlight of the year—the 6th AfLIA Conference and 8th African Library Summit, scheduled for May 2025 in Windhoek, Namibia. We eagerly look forward to welcoming amazing delegates and exhibitors from across Africa and beyond, including you!
At AfLIA, we remain steadfast in our mission to advocate for and promote the right to information, education, openness to information, and visibility of library contributions to community development, as well as the preservation of African documentary and cultural heritage. We believe that achieving this vision requires strategic synergy, and so we extend a warm invitation to non-members and non-aligned library institutions on the continent to join forces with AfLIA, the continental association, to secure the future of African information and African libraries together.
